CALA REGINA

Along the scenic main road to Villasimius, which runs close to some spectacular sea cliffs that alternate with enchanting bays, we arrive in Cala Regina.

In this small and turquoise colored cove, the cliff that rises to the right of the entrance from the shore jumps in the sea, leaving room for the many and huge granite blocks surrounded by meadows of posidonia seagrass, lying on a shallow sea bed about 10-12 meters deep and tapping in some spots 15 meters.

This particular coastal marine environment is inhabited by numerous schools of breams and damselfishes, while are frequent the meeting with cephalopods such as octopuses and cuttlefishes which allow close “face to face’s” with the divers due to their innate curious nature.

This dive near the reef can be performed both by boat or from the shore, creating logistical opportunities very favorable especially in certain adverse weather conditions. In the first case we can explore the area below the promontory, difficult to reach from the shore and therefore not crowded even during high season; the entrance from the beach by the other hand allows dives in complete relaxation (with shore support guaranteed from us in any case), which give the best while towed by one of our scooters/DPV, taking also advantage of the significant bottom times allowed by the limited depth.
